Human Rights and Democracy in Africa!!!! who to blame????

The issue of Democracy and Human Rights is a global challenge however if you specifically focus on Africa, have you ever wondered why the dark continent is the flag bearer as regard to human rights violation? The reasons basically are

1.High levels of illiteracy among Africans especially females and with this phenomena, many women dont even konw or rather understand their basic civil rights thats why many are forced into marriages, are raped or abused by husbands ( domestic violence ) without reporting the matter to the authority, Almost all african traditional scoieties dont value a woman ,she is seen as a source of wealth( dowery payments ),labor( domestic work ) or for giving birth .Men take advantage of their wives as their personal property and women can hardly say no because thats what the society is set up. I appeal to all international  huamn rights NGOs in Africa to   focus their effort on improving literacy among women and then gender equality can begin to florish. Women must know what they are entitled to in order to claim it otherwise if they are still naive and primitive, their rights will always be violated.

Gender and Education

Education opportunities in Africa should be reinforced to females too, its absurd to know that still in this new generation many societies in Africa have not realised the need to support their female children/relatives to attain academic education. Most families would  “feel ” proud if their daughter is married rather than attaining a Univeristy degree. We should all of us fight this weird mentality, girls need the opportunity as boys too in regard to education, or else sustaniable development in africa will always be a joke.
